The AGB Foundation developed the Summer Business Internship program to inspire young Chicagoans from minority backgrounds to develop and pursue their professional goals.
The Reality
Talent is everywhere. Access is not. Chicago’s young people deserve both. The AGB Foundation Summer Business Internship empowers students to begin creating their own reality by developing skills and experience that will help them step into careers with clarity and confidence.
What We Do
The Foundation provides paid, high-expectation internships that blend real projects, expert coaching, and micro-learning. Interns do meaningful work for our corporate and community partners. They learn how to show up as professionals. They leave prepared to contribute on day one.

Program Details
Real-World Experience
Interns complete scoped projects for respected organizations. Examples include stock pitches with Goldman Sachs Investment Banking, risk assessments with Gallagher Insurance, and community development proposals with CBRE Commercial Real Estate. Students shadow professionals, join team meetings, and see how decisions get made inside an organization.
Micro-Learning that Moves the Needle
Our bite-size learning sessions focus on three essentials:
- Self development with a growth mindset.
- Professionalism, from attire to a simple good morning greeting.
- Communication that is clear, timely, and respectful.
We also teach the use of technology for time management and efficiency at work, and give students a practical framework for problem solving when they hit a bump in the road.
Professional Presence
All work is honorable, and presentation matters. Interns receive support to secure professional clothing so they can look and feel the part from head to toe. We help students adopt a confident, coachable posture that earns trust.
Career Tools and Well-Being
Subject matter experts guide students through resume writing and building a thoughtful LinkedIn presence. We also equip them with mental wellness strategies to support everyday well-being, so they can perform under pressure and bounce back from setbacks.
Entrepreneurship Exposure
We introduce students to entrepreneurs who tell the truth about the journey: the wins, detours, and discipline needed to persevere. Students learn what it takes to build something and how to choose their path with eyes wide open.
Community and Celebration
We close with a culminating community event that honors the work, the growth, and the future. Students finish the program more confident, better prepared to search for employment, and ready to bring their very best to the workforce.
