Family First

The AGB Foundation is dedicated to helping minority families in struggling communities improve their financial security and quality of life. We serve inner city neighborhoods on the South side of Chicago, where people of color have long experienced economic inequality.

In America, white households nationwide have a median wealth 10 times greater than that of black households. The U.S. Treasury Department in 2022 warned that the racial wealth gap, a stark reality in Chicago, may continue to widen. The AGB Foundation is committed to balancing the scales.

Family First provides two types of critical programming: direct assistance to families of color who are experiencing a crisis, and community service projects throughout the year.

Our Family First program adopts deserving families, providing their children with essential items for school and filling critical needs during the holiday season. We deliver Thanksgiving dinners and gifts for their children that the parents otherwise could not afford. This support during a volatile time helps the families continue to meet their work and school commitments.

Strong family relationships are essential building blocks in the development of young people. The AGB Foundation’s outreach efforts give parents the resources to make their children feel secure and valued.

We are honored to support families in need and young adults of color who are seeking to improve their lives. Helping them achieve financial security and build lasting wealth are the ultimate goals of the Family First program.

Community Day of Service

The leadership team at AGB Investigative Services Inc. has built a culture of giving among its more than 700 employees. Every year on our anniversary, we celebrate by paying it forward in underserved areas of Chicago. We partner with nonprofit organizations that could use additional resources and volunteers to help them achieve their goals. We engage our own employees, enlisting them in our efforts to help children and families through service. Our Community Day of Service is one of the most rewarding and unifying initiatives at AGB!

What does a Community Day of Service look like?

In years past, we have collected new socks, undershirts and gently used pants and jackets to fill care packages for needy families. We’ve written notes encouraging people to have faith in their own ability to improve their lives. We have shopped for supplies, cooked and served meals, and cleaned up afterwards. We’ve packed first aid kits and filled backpacks with school supplies. Our employees are vested in these efforts because they help choose the organizations we sponsor. They also join us in the work—and the joy—of helping others.

The organizations we partner with serve people of color who are going through hardship. By helping others, our own employees expand their awareness of community needs and various organizations they can support. They also learn how to incorporate giving back into their lives. It is our sincere hope to inspire lifelong change within our own staff, empowering them and their family members to become civic leaders who will work to strengthen our community as a whole.

You can make excuses about a lot of things, but giving back to others shouldn’t be one of them! The AGB Foundation wants to strengthen our community, and sometimes just putting in the work is what we need to do.

We have prepared hundreds of meals and care packages for deserving organizations through our Community Appreciation program, including the following:

If we . . .

Provide opportunities to empower young adults of color and inspire their entrepreneurial dreams

Partner with other organizations to provide minority families with essential items that meet their basic needs, and winter gifts they otherwise could not afford

Then . . .

Young minority adults will show progress in their growth and development, both personally and professionally. They will be motivated to improve their lives and help their families, using information and resources from Family First

Minority families will have fewer obstacles that keep them from working and attending school.

Which will lead to . . .

Minority families who aspire to create a financial legacy for their families.

Families of color who strengthen their commitments to work and school.

Which will result in . . .

A transformation in the quality of life for minority families, as they improve their financial health and  increase their appreciation for professional development and education.

Do you know a deserving family or organization that could benefit from our resources, love and time? Please send us your suggestions for organizations that serve minority children and families on the South Side of Chicago, or nominate a family in need!
