Program Goals

Inspire + Reward

Our Summer Business Internships and College Scholarships programs have benefited nearly 300 minority students. These deserving young people have learned invaluable business and communication skills; received mentoring from minority entrepreneurs and professionals; and earned scholarships for higher education. The exposure to a professional environment and connections they make can change their lives.

Engage + Revitalize

Our mission goes beyond grooming young people of color to excel. We also believe in the power of enlightening others and giving back to communities in need. Our Family First and Community Appreciation programs serve those purposes. Family First provides educational seminars as well as direct assistance to struggling families. Community Appreciation is a partnership with local nonprofit organizations that assist people of color in vulnerable situations. We roll up our sleeves and help these groups accomplish their mission.

Chicago is a tale of two cities.

We are one of the great cities of the world, yet violence, poverty, and a lack of opportunity plague too many of our neighborhoods. Young African Americans in Chicago are six times more likely than whites to be unemployed and out of school. Our young people want to work. But there aren’t nearly enough jobs for them. Meanwhile, parents in these vulnerable communities struggle to provide basic necessities for their families.

It’s time to write a new story.

The AGB Foundation is blasting barriers to educational access, professional opportunities, financial wellness, and needed resources for Chicagoans of color.
