The 2017 Holiday Benefit was a HUGE success. The evening was an opportunity for all of us to be inspired by what we can accomplish when we set our minds to it. YOU donated over $20,000 to support our Summer Business Internship and Scholarship programs. The young African American harpist created a holiday ambience for our donors, our 2017 and past program participants, our generous sponsors, community members, family, and friends. The room was anchored with a silent auction table circled with a vast amount of sports, restaurants, and Chicagoland experiences. We also raffled a 43’ inch 4K HD color tv. The testimonies of our visionary leader and program participants touched the souls of everyone present. The 2017 Holiday Benefit was definitely a night to remember.

Our annual Holiday Benefit is more than a celebration of the season. It’s an opportunity for all of us to be inspired by what we can accomplish when we set our minds to it. The AGB Foundation exists to open doors for minority youth and young adults from struggling neighborhoods in Chicago. Through our foundation’s programs, we recruit young leaders, reward motivated students, assist families in need, and prepare the next generation of our workforce.
It’s a mission that we believe in with all our hearts, but we can’t achieve our goals alone. Your help is essential. Please support the AGB Foundation by attending our Holiday Benefit. Reserve your spot today, or become a sponsor! Either way, you’ll be helping us change lives, today!
We are pleased to announce our 2017 AGB Foundation Scholars! We had so many intelligent and talented applicants this year, and our top 3 scorers captured the $1500 scholarships. Congrats to all of the 2017 graduates, but we would like to take this time to honor our special scholars. We are so proud of everything that you have already accomplished, and we wish you much success in all of your future endeavors!

The AGB Foundation partnered with the Feed, Clothe and Help the Needy shelter in Englewood for our AGB Community Service Day on April 13, 2017. The AGB family gave back to Chicago by preparing 100 meals and care packages for homeless children and their families. It was a day filled with blessings and gratitude!
The numbers are staggering–mind numbing, even, for Chicago minority youth. Forty-seven percent of young black men ages 20 to 24 are out of work and out of school.
The Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) published these findings in their Jan. 2017 report, “Abandoned in their Neighborhoods: Youth Joblessness amidst the Flight of Industry and Opportunity.”
“Depriving young people of the dignity of work leaves ‘permanent scars,’ impedes an overall sense of wellbeing, and can lead to counterproductive behaviors,” the UIC report states. Read more
Slinging burgers and bagging groceries can be great summer jobs for teenagers. But for high school and college students looking to explore career options, a summer business internship is an even better choice. Why? Because the experience it offers can better position young people to enter the work force after graduation.
